End of Fiscal Year 2011

Fellow employees,

I want to thank you for your tremendous efforts, especially over these past few difficult months. It is with great pride I get to inform you that we have exceeded this quarter’s numbers by 5%. This also marks the end of our fiscal year where we will finish 3% higher in profits than predicted. This growth, despite the global economic trouble, is a testament to our company and shows how we can pull together and continue to provide customer satisfaction.

Moving forward we need to remain untied and work together to exceed customer expectations. The economy is still unsettled and the energy industry is predicted to slow. We are the aftermarket turbine accessory leader and with our new cutting edge technologies and performance gains we must demonstrate to customers our products potential to enhance there power system. Together we can overcome these economic troubles and yet again have a prosperous year in 2012.

Thank you.

My Stubborn Dog

My dog just jumped off the boat! I know he likes to try and catch fish, but come on, we were moving! Is he alright? Yup, just looks a bit dumber and real confused. I guess I’ll go pick him up. He better not ruin my favorite fishing hole later.

Shop Memo

TurboCare Chicopee Operations would like you to join an information session about SMART Turbine seals. This will be an interactive presentation geared to help shop employees answer questions they may have about the function of the products they create. We will also review design initiatives and R&D programs currently going on.

This optional half hour presentation will be hosted by Chicopee Engineering and we hope to answer questions to help you better understand the function of SMART turbine seals. No one understands the physical products better than the employees that actually make them; now we want to expand your knowledge to how they work in operation. Working together we can make quality improvements that ease manufacturing and increase the products performance simultaneously.

Communication Tip

Properly facilitating a meeting is crucial to being productive. Too many times when intelligent people enter a room off topic discussions can occur.  People go on tangents, and although they may be important to the individual, the team or group had another topic in mind. Also without being adequately organized the group may enter heated debates or arguments.

To avoid these issues during meetings a total quality approach should be taken. This model is outlined in detail in “Managing for Quality and Performance Excellence” by James R. Evans and William M. Lindsay. I have also found this website that describes this meeting approach at:

From personnel experience, the most important steps are to clearly define the objective and to have a facilitator that writes on the board or projector and keeps everyone focused on the objective. All of the roles defined in the total quality method are important but the facilitator needs to apply good communication techniques and leadership skills and is the most vital. In my group at work we have been following these easy tips and have cut meeting time down and eliminated irrelevant debate.
